We just came back from 2 week trip to Beijing. It was hot, humid, crowed, polluted, but it was great trip :)    Thanks to the ever improving subway system, it was fairly easy to get around the city and very cheap.

We visited all the usual places, the zoo, Summer Palace, Bei Hai , Great Wall,  Tian Tan, Forbidden City etc, but the best place we visited was Long Qing Xia (龙庆峡).   We took S2 line train  to Yan Qing (延庆) and then took a private taxi to Long Qing Xia. The trip took about 1 hour and 30 minutes.  The same S2 train will take you to the Great Wall at Ba Da Ling (八大岭).

Long Qing  Xia was so different and unexpected after you stayed in Beijing for a while.  It’s sky is clear, it’s cooler and it looks pristine.  And looking at the picture I took there, you will also notice something else is missing –  the crowds and crowds of people you will see at other parks.   Here it’s almost  deserted.   It was great place to spend a day,  if you ever visit Beijing, don’t miss this place.
